As we navigate our journey through life and life experiences there will be times when we are met with unforeseen circumstances that create periods of unhappiness, anxiety, and/or fear. These unforeseen circumstances can be due to trauma, life stressors, or natural life cycle transitions that render us “stuck” and unsure of where to turn or what to do. My mission is to be the supportive ally that my clients need to help confidently navigate through those circumstances, so they are happy, whole, and hopeful. There are so many changes that happen over our life cycles and I am here to help with these transitions.
I am a passionate psychotherapist who brings more than a decade of clinical and case management social work experience. I hold a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Maryland with a clinical concentration in Children and Families. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia and LCSW-C in the state of Maryland. My Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Towson University helped to jumpstart my career in the mental health field and ignited my passion and dedication for advocating for underserved populations. I bring a wealth of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families providing evidence-based treatment and interventions through individual, couples, and family therapy as well as case management services. My passion and experience include many years working with LGBTQ, trauma/PTSD victims, and children.
My experience consists of working in both inpatient and outpatient settings with populations varying across the life span and from culturally diverse backgrounds providing long-term and brief interventions. My dedication to the field of social work has provided me with opportunities to offer my expertise by way of the facilitation of trainings to clinicians, case workers, interns, parents, and children in the areas of attachment, trauma informed care, grief, parenting, case management, social skills building, anger management, and solution focused treatment.
My belief is that therapy is a collaborative process in which both myself and the client must work together for lasting results. I use an integrative and eclectic therapeutic approach according to the unique needs of each of my clients to empower them to take control of their lives. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation. I have an extensive background in crisis de-escalation, DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, play therapy, art therapy, and Motivational Interviewing evidence-based interventions. My experience includes working with clients with depression including postpartum, anxiety, ADHD, adjustment disorders, oppositional behaviors, PTSD/trauma, relationship/family conflict, parenting issues, LGBT issues, codependency, and grief/loss.
